What Does DHA License Renewal Involve?
At a high level, a renewal needs:
- the license to be inside DHA’s 90-day renewal window;
- current CME/CPD compliance and valid malpractice insurance;
- no outstanding fines on your record; and
- up-to-date passport and Emirates ID details, where DHA requires them.
Missing even one of these can hold up your approval. Ezee Healthcare reviews your renewal readiness and manages the Sheryan submission with your employer directly.
Who Applies, and When to Start
Your DHA renewal must be submitted by your employer’s delegated Sheryan representative, not by you directly, and can be filed up to 90 days before your license expires. Starting early avoids a last-minute rush if a compliance item needs attention. Ezee Healthcare can coordinate directly with your employer’s Sheryan representative on your behalf.
What Can Stop a Renewal From Going Through
- you are blacklisted or revoked;
- your full-time license has been expired for more than six months;
- you require supervision and none is available at your facility;
- your trainee license is renewed after the training period has ended;
- your part-time license is renewed without current facility approval; or
- unpaid fines remain on your record.
These conditions are easy to miss until your application has already been rejected. Ezee Healthcare checks your case against DHA’s current rules before submission, so an avoidable rejection doesn’t cost you the renewal window.
DHA License Renewal Fees in 2026
DHA publishes approximate renewal costs by professional category, and the gap is significant: a physician or dentist pays three times the nurse and allied health rate for a one-year full-time license.
| License type | Physician / Dentist | Nurse, Midwife, Allied Health, TCAM |
|---|---|---|
| Full-time, 1 year | AED 3,000 | AED 1,000 |
| Full-time, 2 years | AED 5,000 | AED 1,500 |
| Full-time, 3 years | AED 7,500 | AED 2,500 |
| Part-time license | AED 3,000 | AED 1,000 |
| Trainee license | AED 3,000 | AED 1,000 |
These are approximate figures, and Knowledge and Innovation Fees apply on top at checkout. Ezee Healthcare confirms the exact amount for your category before you pay.
This is DHA’s own government fee for the license itself. Ezee Healthcare’s service fee for managing your renewal — document checks, Sheryan submission and follow-up — is separate and starts from USD $220, varying by authority and profession. See current pricing on the License Renewal service.
Late Renewal Penalties
DHA’s current renewal service publishes late-renewal penalties for full-time professional licenses:
| Professional category | Published late-renewal penalty |
|---|---|
| Physician / Dentist | AED 600 per month |
| Nurse / Allied Health / TCAM | AED 200 per month |
Rates should be reconfirmed on DHA’s official service page before payment, as fees and penalties are subject to change.
What Happens If a License Expires?
DHA does not permit clinical practice while your professional license is expired. If your full-time license has been expired for more than six months, your facility must cancel it and settle penalties before a fresh application can be made. Renewing after expiry does not reset your license term — DHA keeps the original expiry cycle. Ezee Healthcare’s re-application support for UAE licenses can help if your license has lapsed beyond a straightforward renewal.
License Renewal vs Registration Renewal
These are different DHA services and shouldn’t be treated as interchangeable.
| Professional License Renewal | Professional Registration Renewal | |
|---|---|---|
| Who applies | Delegated facility representative | The DHA-registered professional |
| Purpose | Extends the active license | Maintains the professional’s registration |
| Timing | Up to 90 days before license expiry | Within DHA’s published registration window |
The registration-renewal route has its own eligibility and PSV requirements. If your verification report is still pending, see our guide on what to do when your DataFlow verification is delayed, or let Ezee Healthcare confirm which service applies to you.
Has Your Role or Title Changed?
A simple renewal is not enough if your position has changed or your title has been upgraded. Ezee Healthcare’s UAE License Upgrade service supports moves such as GP to Specialist, and if you’re applying for a title for the first time, start with our guide to DHA license requirements for doctors.
How Ezee Healthcare Can Help With DHA Licensing
DHA renewal can involve more than submitting a payment; it often means coordinating compliance records, insurance, fines and identity documents at the same time as day-to-day facility work. Ezee Healthcare’s renewal service starts from USD $220 and also covers DOH, MOHAP and SHA licenses if you hold one outside Dubai. Our team can:
- check your renewal readiness against DHA’s current requirements;
- manage the Sheryan submission and fee payment directly;
- handle role or title upgrades alongside a renewal; and
- re-apply on your behalf if a license has lapsed beyond a standard renewal.
Our wider licensing support services also cover primary assessment, new licenses and DataFlow verification, so we can carry a case from a first application through every renewal after it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers from our licensing team.
01 How early can I renew my DHA professional license?
Up to 90 days before the license expiry date. Starting early gives you time to resolve any compliance gap before it delays the renewal.
02 How long does DHA license renewal take?
DHA lists the average processing time as instant, with one working day where personal records need updating. Ezee Healthcare can also flag anything likely to slow your specific case down before you submit.
03 How much does DHA license renewal cost?
Approximate full-time fees range from AED 3,000 to 7,500 for physicians and dentists, and AED 1,000 to 2,500 for nurses, allied health and TCAM, depending on the license term. Knowledge and Innovation Fees apply on top.
04 Is there a penalty for late DHA license renewal?
Yes — DHA currently lists AED 600 per month for physicians and dentists, and AED 200 per month for other categories, for full-time licenses renewed after expiry.
05 Can an expired DHA license still be renewed?
Often yes, within DHA’s published window, subject to penalties. Beyond that, Ezee Healthcare’s re-application support can help you re-enter the process.
06 Who submits a DHA professional license renewal?
The facility’s delegated Sheryan representative. If that’s not you, Ezee Healthcare can coordinate the submission with your employer on your behalf.
07 Is the DHA renewal fee the same as Ezee Healthcare's service fee?
No. The AED figures above are DHA’s own government license fee. Ezee Healthcare’s separate service fee for managing the renewal starts from USD $220, varying by authority and profession — see current pricing.
